I was a busy beaver this week . I have some prints on display and for sale at my fantastic massage therapist's (Julie Bovenzi's) office. It is called Spirit of Wellness and is located in North Grafton, MA. http://www.graftonmassage.com/ . Call and book a massage and buy some great art on the way out!
I also stopped by the Petersham Craft Center in Petersham, MA http://www.petershamcraftcenter.org/ and dropped off some prints, note cards and magnets to sell. It's a beautiful drive along route 122 through part of the Quabbin watershed.
Check out the Post Road Art Center, http://www.postroadcenter.com/ , I have a piece in their mixed media show through January 30th.
I also opened a shop on http://www.cafepress.com/. It will feature some of my art work printed on various objects such as t shirts, mugs, cards and tote bags. The site is www.cafepress.com/KonzaGraphics .
ART:
I belong to the Colored Pencil Society of America http://www.cpsa.org/ and have decided to enter their 17th Annual International Exhibition being held in Atlanta, Georgia. I am working on a piece called "Ode to Uncle Donny". He was a favorite Uncle who died of skin cancer in 2005.
He loved to laugh, play cards/board games and he taught me a lot about native wildflowers. To him a weed was a flower nobody loved.

This is the first section. He was Swedish so I included a Dala Horse (for more info about this interesting folk craft visit http://www.swedsnus.com/ ) and we played crazy eights a lot so the cards will be the eights from each suit. The round object is a glass blown paper weight that he gave me. I am doing this from life. The paper is black and it's the first time I have done work on this dark a paper. I wanted the colors to really pop, plus black is usually associated with death, so I thought it was appropriate. I placed the objects on a mirror (this was a change from my original concept) and hope to be brave enough to do the reflections!
That's it for this week. Back at you next week!

Wow, Laurie, what an ambitious still-life. I'm looking forward to seeing it develop. What type of paper are you using - Canson Mi-tientes?
Yes, it is Mi-Tientes. It's not going as smooth as I thought. I am having difficulty with the paper weight. I hope I can figure it out.
